Pre Kirbys

Here we have the Wireless Vacuette Model B. From 1919/1920. This model wasn't out long before it was replaced with the Model C. Like the later model it has a worm gear system that drives the suction fan and a gear system that turns the brush roll as you push and pull the machine back and forth. This was system and whole concept was invented by James Kirby. As you will notice the Model B Wireless Vacuette has no handle grip attached as it's really just a broom handle.

Closer view of the Wireless Vacuette (Model B) These sold well in homes that still was not connected to the main power grid. James first started working on the Vacuette on the 21st of October 1909. So now you know the birthday of the Vacuette.

Here we have a Scott & Fetzer Wireless Vacuette from 1921 to the late 1920s. Much more than just a carpet sweeper, it generated it's own suction/airflow. This was likely the best non-electric vacuum cleaner on the market.
